Summary:
Under the direction of the Equipment Manager, or their delegate, the Parts and Warehousing Superintendent will be responsible for managing the Fort McKay Group of Companies (FMGOC) warehouse, parts supply, stocking, and physical inventory. The incumbent is responsible for leading and supporting all operating sites with required inventory, working in close cooperation with the Maintenance and Equipment Superintendents to deliver upon equipment uptime and with achieving the highest standards in terms of safety performance including relevant regulations and processes, mechanical availability and minimizing the overall cost per hour of the equipment.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.

Key Focus:

  • Ensure the utmost compliance of to all industry regulation and safety. Manage and implement the Fort McKay group of company’s safety program regarding any warehouse, loading and unloading activities at the yard and shop. Initiate any changes or additions needed regarding SOP's and JHA's with vendors, and FMGOC HSE Department. This includes daily and weekly inspections.
  • Ensure the FMGOC disciplinary policy is followed and documented.
  • Coordinate, schedule and be ultimately responsible for the performance of all activities in the Fort McKay Warehouse. This includes scheduling manpower, managing parts inventory, planned capital expenditures, coordinator parts runners and achieving the key performance indicators in regards to supply of parts.
  • Ensure manpower schedule is created and maintained to warehouse and site needs.
  • Aid with the creating and maintenance of the yearly budget for the warehouse and parts supply.
  • Provide insights to the Director, SBE or delegate of improved cost minimizations and procurement opportunities.
  • Manage the team of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors as well as employees as one team. This includes recruiting, training and evaluation as needed. Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure competency. Provide mentorship for apprenticeships as required.
  • Provide best-practice insights to the Director or designate, collaborating to resolve issues with the teams regarding work required and performed.
  • Develop sourcing strategies balancing parts turn on shelf and availability for uptime of the Fort McKay fleet of equipment. Ensure our parts strategy allows for maximum equipment utilization while minimizing held inventory or captive capital.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with vendors and suppliers, managing issues regarding manpower or vendor to ensure that the overall performance of the warehouse is achieved.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety compliance is maintained within team and company.
  • Work closely with procurement and supply chain to fully develop the equipment material requisition process including development and management of a “will-call system”.
  • In collaboration with supply chain and the maintenance planner(s), manage the list and supply of equipment consumables.
  • Develop and maintain a system for down time parts. This is to be available in real time.
  • Ensure cores are sent back in a timely fashion.
  • Assist the supply chain group by proposing and setting up new vendors as needed.
  • Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required. Journeyman Heavy-Duty Technician, Journeyman Parts Person, or post-secondary education in supply chain management would be an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract.
  • CSTS and OSSA and CSO or BSO is required.
  • Knowledge in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Experience in SAP is considered an asset.
  • At least 10+ years of is required. Experience in Joint Ventures is required, with strong experience in building and managing warehouse teams.
  • Strong sense of urgency in regard to equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Able to work at heights with fall protection/tied down in a warehousing environment.
  • Demonstrates continuous learning through cross-training, learning new skills, and refreshing prior skills.
  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

This is a temporary position (Maternity Leave Coverage) for 12-18 months located north of Fort McMurray, AB at the Alex and Alice Boucher Fort McKay Industrial Park.

Shift schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off; 12 hour shifts. Days Only.
