Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.
Created to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology and Infrastructure (T&I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.
A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from a conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force. Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) is the team making it happen.
This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
The opportunity
Cybersecurity and its risks are growing daily and CBC/Radio-Canada is a potential target. The risks we are facing are increasing as a result of our dependence on IP and IT-based media and business solutions. Reporting to the Executive Director, Distribution and Operation (D&O), the Senior Manager of Cybersecurity Operations is responsible for the timely and consistent work required to secure our cyber-based systems overseen by the D&O team.
With an overall goal to reduce systemwide vulnerabilities which could be affected by nefarious activities, this role will prove to our stakeholders that every effort is being made to protect our enterprise through consistent reporting and measurement.
As our Senior Manager, Cyber Security Operations, you will:
- Interface regularly with the T&I Cybersecurity Governance team to determine how D&O can assist in securing our cyber-related technology and ensure the timely reduction of vulnerabilities is met.
- Implement the necessary system adjustments presented by the T&I Cybersecurity Governance team in an effort to secure our digital assets and cyber-based infrastructure.
- Work with D&O leadership to secure the assignments for individuals in their teams to aid in the implementation of security upgrades.
- Create written and visual reports which clearly indicate the progress of the team’s actions associated with: ongoing support, major outages, noting risk/probability and impact.
- Coordinate activities in Montreal, Toronto and various regional locations including our transmission operations.
What you bring:
- Experience in a leadership position and the management of various technical resources, specifically the competency to lead without direct authority over both the technical solutions nor the staff implementing the solutions.
- Experience in project management, specifically with the Agile approach.
- Experience in delivery of important and complex technological projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Engineering, or a Diploma in Applied Science and Technology.
- Knowledge on ST-2110 standards, multicasting, cybersecurity, virtualisation, data management or relevant certifications, considered an asset.
- Strong, influential and clear communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, peers, partners, management and external vendors.
- Ability to make decisions and delegate.
- Ability to mobilize and adapt to new priorities quickly.
- Ability to travel to different CBC locations to oversee different phases of projects.
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next
step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:
- A mandatory Criminal record check.
- Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
