####Purpose of the Role:

The Director, UHNW Segment is accountable for defining and building Nicola Wealth's Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) / Family Office segment. This role sets the market definition, client segmentation, and value proposition, develops and executes the go-to-market strategy, and partners cross-functionally to ensure the firm has the operational architecture, service model, tools, and governance required to deliver a differentiated UHNW client experience at scale.

This is a "strategy-to-execution" role: equal parts segment strategy and internal orchestration, ensuring the UHNW strategy comes to life through tight alignment across Private Wealth, Client Service, Operations, Technology, Investments, Risk/Compliance, and external partners.

####Core Responsibilities:

UHNW Segment Strategy, Definition & Market

  • Define the UHNW / Family Office segment (client profiles, needs, complexity tiers, service expectations) and articulate a clear Nicola Wealth value proposition for UHNW families.
  • Analyze market opportunities, competitive positioning, and priority sub-segments (e.g., liquidity events, multi-generational families, complex entity structures).
  • Establish a multi-year UHNW growth strategy and strategic roadmap (offer, experience, enablement, partnerships, platform capabilities).

Go-To-Market (GTM) & Growth Enablement

  • Develop and lead go-to-market initiatives to drive UHNW client acquisition and retention (messaging, targeting, advisor plays, and coordinated campaigns).
  • Build and strengthen strategic professional partnerships and referral ecosystems (e.g., COIs and external specialists aligned to UHNW needs).
  • Enable Advisors with sales enablement tools, frameworks, and segment playbooks; ensure field adoption and feedback loops.

UHNW Service Model & Operational Architecture

  • Collaborate with Operations team to ensure an efficient UHNW operational model, including onboarding, transitions, workflows/handoffs, reporting infrastructure, and ongoing service execution—ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, discretion, and reliability.
  • Design and implement repeatable, scalable UHNW processes that balance customization with control; institutionalize UHNW operational knowledge so success is not person-dependent.
  • Partner with Client Service and Operations leaders to define "what good looks like" in UHNW service delivery (standards, roles, escalation, and quality management).

Platform, Custody, Vendor & Third-Party Relationships

  • Serve as senior relationship owner for UHNW custody partners and key technology/platform providers supporting UHNW families; lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, SLAs, and performance oversight.
  • Partner with Technology and Operations to ensure systems support UHNW complexity (multi-custodian reporting, complex asset structures, private asset administration, and cross-border considerations where applicable).

Reporting, Data Infrastructure & Insight

  • Partner with Operations, Technology, and Investments to evolve UHNW reporting capabilities (consolidated multi-custodian views, complex ownership structures, public and private asset reporting, client-ready executive outputs).
  • Act as an operational owner for UHNW data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness; drive continuous improvement in reporting, tools, and user experience.

Governance, Risk & controls

  • Partner with the Office of the CIO to establish governance and risk frameworks tailored to UHNW complexity (documentation standards, exceptions, escalation protocols, operational risk, and controls).
  • Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure UHNW operations meet regulatory, fiduciary, and reputational standards; act as a senior escalation point for sensitive issues.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Change Adoption

  • Coordinate cross-firm teams delivering integrated UHNW / Family Office services; translate UHNW requirements into clear expectations across Investments, Planning/Advisory, Operations, Tech, Marketing, and Client Service

  • Drive execution discipline and adoption: set operating rhythm, track priorities, remove obstacles, and ensure initiatives move from concept to embedded practice.

  • Other relevant and related responsibilities, as assigned and as the needs of the organization change.

####Required Skills & Qualifications:

-12+ yearsof progressive experience in UHNW, private wealth, private banking, family office, or closely related professional services environments supporting complex families.

  • Demonstrated successdefining and scaling a segment / platform: segmentation, value proposition, GTM strategy, and execution across stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of UHNW servicing complexity (multi-entity ownership structures, bespoke reporting, custody/platform relationships, and operational risk
  • Proven ability totranslate strategy into structured initiatives and execution, including building operating rhythms, tracking progress, and driving adoption.
  • Track record of developingstrategic partnerships and referral ecosystemswith external professionals/COIs that support UHNW acquisition and retention
  • Strong executive presence: trusted partner to senior leaders; excellent communication, stakeholder management, and judgment in high-discretion situations.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD) and/or relevant designations (e.g., CFA/CFP/CIM) considered an asset.(Comparable postings commonly list advanced degrees/designations as preferred for senior UHNW-facing leadership roles.)
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.
