We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lab Support Installation Technician to join our team and contribute to our dynamic R&D ecosystem. This role is integral to supporting cutting-edge activities across Ciena Labs, including hardware and software design, verification, and product support. How You Will Contribute:
- Perform installations of industrial telecommunications and data center equipment, ensuring precision and efficiency.
- Install, terminate, and energize DC power cabling in alignment with equipment specifications.
- Handle installation, termination, and testing of communications cabling, including Ethernet, fiber optics, coax, and BIX.
- Conduct installation and cleaning of fiber optics cables to maintain optimal functionality.
- Execute physical installations of frames, racks, shelves, and data center hardware.
- Support the installation of telecom equipment (Ciena and third-party) and data center equipment such as servers, switches, and storage appliances.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company guidelines throughout all tasks.
The Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience in R&D customer support, telecom, or data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of R&D labs, telecom installations, and data center infrastructure.
- College diploma in a technical field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Expertise in telecom and data center equipment, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and ability to install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems (e.g., Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, MPO/MTP fiber).
- Skilled in organizing cable pathways, dressing, routing, and maintaining compliance with TIA/EIA cabling standards.

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $59, 100 - $94, 300
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
