Production Engineer – Medical Device Manufacturing Location: North York, ON - Onsite Duration: 12-Month Contract
About the Opportunit yOur client is seeking a hands-on Production Engineer to join their manufacturing team on a 12-month contract. This role supports the production of advanced medical imaging equipment and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with complex electro-mechanical systems in a collaborative manufacturing environment .You'll be involved throughout the manufacturing lifecycle—from assembly and testing to troubleshooting, product improvements, and new product introductions—while ensuring products meet the highest quality and performance standards .Key Responsibilitie sAssemble, integrate, and test complex electro-mechanical medical imaging systems and subassemblies .Perform system calibration, verification, and final functional testing to ensure quality and performance standards are met .Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, and system-level issues during manufacturing and product servicing .Install and configure embedded software and system applications .Support prototype builds and new product introductions (NPI) .Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, manufacturing documentation, and engineering records .Assist with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and implementation of product improvements .Participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives .Support refurbishment, repair, and testing of returned or demonstration units .Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 quality standards and established manufacturing procedures .Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency .Qualification sDiploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline .Minimum 3 years of experience in Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or a similar hands-on manufacturing role .Experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex electro-mechanical systems .Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation .Excellent mechanical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills .Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation .Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams .Preferred Qualification sExperience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated industries .Knowledge of ISO 13485 or similar quality management systems .Experience with optical alignment, soldering, calibration, and functional testing .Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, BOM management, and controlled documentation .Experience supporting Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), non-conformance investigations, or CAPA activities .Exposure to embedded systems, imaging technologies, or precision instrumentation is an asset
