Position Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Chief Internal Auditor, this role will be primarily responsible for executing Quality Assurance (QA) reviews in accordance with methodology and IIA standards, , internal audit methodology development and maintenance, Board reporting and overseeing projects.
The Manager, Professional Practices & Delivery plays an important part in achieving Internal Audit’s objectives as well as to drive value across the organization including ensuring audit activities meet Internal Audit standards and regulatory requirements, supporting Audit level reporting to the Audit Committee of the Board, annual plan preparation, developing and maintaining the Internal Audit methodology and managing relationships with stakeholders across the Bank. The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to influence management, build strong trusted relationships and drive change designed to mitigate risk.
Major Elements Of The Role The Manager, Professional Practices & Delivery will be responsible for :
- Maintaining and enhancing the QAIP (Quality Assurance & Improvement Plan) framework and procedures.
- Executing assigned QA reviews to assess conformance with IIA Standards, Internal Audit Methodology, and regulatory expectations. This will include reviewing audit planning, risk assessments, testing approaches, conclusions, and reporting.
- Ensuring QA test procedures are performed adequately, sufficiently documented, and providing timely feedback to enhance quality of audit work and internal practices.
- Tracking QA findings to ensure highlighted deficiencies are timely remediated.
- Evaluating current audit practices for continuous improvement to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintaining and enhancing the Internal Audit methodology.
- Supporting with the preparation of Audit Committee reporting and annual plan.
- Supporting and/or leading internal projects initiated by the Internal Audit, including methodology enhancements, automations, and tool implementations.
- Supporting regulatory requests.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory and industry developments as well as emerging risks.
- Working collaboratively with and assesses the effectiveness of key risk management strategies with 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense.
Skills And Experience Required
- Demonstrated progressive Internal Audit or Risk Management experience, preferably in financial services.
- A professional designation or certification (CPA, MBA, ACAMS) is considered an asset. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of IIA Standards, QAIP requirements, and audit best practices
- Good understanding of the financial services industry and Canadian Personal Banking.
- Knowledge of the Canadian regulatory system, specifically knowledge of FCAC, OSFI and FINTRAC laws and regulations applicable to the Bank.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and communication skills, with ability to influence and manage meetings.
- Results driven, highly organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment across all levels.
