What we offer In this role, you’ll be responsible for a key production area within SAMI’s advanced manufacturing facility focused on panelized and modular construction. In this role you’ll be part of building and guiding a skilled team, and helping drive operational excellence in a highly innovative, technology-driven environment. You’ll have the opportunity to shape processes, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and play an important part in delivering high‑quality products. Facility shift hours are 6:30am to 5:00pm, four (4) days/week (Monday to Thursday). What you’ll do Support daily operations in the Flex Cell and Batch-Size-1 Line Machining Departments, ensuring production targets, quality, and safety standards are met. Direct and support a team of machine operators, Assembler and General laborers; oversee task allocation, performance, and attendance, fostering accountability. Monitor production activities, including employee performance and attendance, to maintain operational efficiency. Ensure adherence to production order sequence, assigning priorities and rework/replacement part management. Manage processing operations (including but not limited to panel cutting, framing, insulating, drilling and fastener/hardware setting). Maintain quality standards throughout the designated department, promptly addressing defects or inconsistencies to uphold product standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with production planning, inventory, and engineering teams to align material availability and workflow. Initiate and manage reproduction orders to meet customer delivery timelines and maintain optimal inventory levels. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assembly processes, safety guidelines, and equipment usage. Track and report key production metrics, such as output, efficiency, downtime, and labour utilization, to drive performance improvements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity. Help train and onboard new team members, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork. Participate in and support cross-training programs across departments to build flexibility, seamless coverage and a holistic understanding of the manufacturing production operations. Other duties as assigned. What you bring Leadership experience in panel or modular construction production, or a related manufacturing environment, ideally in a supervisory or lead role. Strong knowledge of panel and modular construction methods, framing, and assembly techniques. Ability to interpret technical documentation, including drawings, cut lists, and job orders. Familiarity with MES/ERP systems for job tracking and production reporting. Experience in developing SOPs and training materials to standardize processes and ensure compliance. Developing leadership and strong communication skills, with the ability to support and motivate teams and collaborate effectively across departments. Detail-oriented mindset, committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Problem-solving and continuous improvement focus, with a proactive approach to operational challenges. Bonus Points Educational background: Diploma or certificate in Manufacturing Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred. Previous experience with automated panel fabrication or modular construction equipment. Compensation The expected base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $73,500. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills.
