Title: Automation Developer
Duration: 6 months Location: Remote in Canada (Eastern or Atlantic) Pay Rate: $70 - 72/hr
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in WebdriverIO (WDIO), TypeScript/JavaScript, API automation, and Oracle database querying. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks with deep integration across UI, API, and database layers, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and scalable test solutions for complex enterprise systems.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Automation & Testing
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automation frameworks using WebdriverIO (WDIO) with TypeScript/JavaScript
Implement data-driven, reusable, and modular automation components
Execute automation across UI, API, and Database layers
Ensure high test coverage, stability, and maintainability of automation suites
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines
API Automation
Develop and execute API automation tests using Axios, REST clients, or similar libraries
Validate request/response payloads, headers, authentication, and error handling
Perform end-to-end validations between API responses and database records
Test RESTful services using JSON, HTTP methods, and status codes
Database Testing (Oracle)
Write complex Oracle SQL queries for data validation and backend testing
Perform data setup, verification, and cleanup to support automated tests
Validate business logic by comparing API/UI results with Oracle Database data
Work closely with backend and ETL teams to ensure data accuracy
Consulting & Collaboration
Act as a technical consultant, providing automation best practices and guidance
Collaborate with developers, DevOps, business analysts, and QA teams
Must Haves
Protected B Reliability Status
Strong experience with WebdriverIO (WDIO)
Proficient in TypeScript and JavaScript
Solid experience in API automation (Axios or similar tools)
Strong expertise in Oracle SQL queries (joins, subqueries, performance considerations)
Hands-on experience with automation involving databases and APIs
Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and HTTP protocols
Experience with Git and source control practices
Plusses
Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Knowledge of Node.js
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder-facing abilities
Ability to work independently in a consulting environment
Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
