The Carpentry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all carpentry related maintenance, repair and when the need arises some construction work within the shopping center, supervising a team of carpenters, tile setters, and cabinetmakers. Coordinating, and scheduling the activities of the carpentry team while being a hands-on leader and completing all tasks in an efficient manner.

Primary Responsibilities

• Managing staffing levels for the carpentry team to ensure timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks.
• Supervise, train, coordinate and delegate responsibilities for the carpenters.
• Submitting performance reviews and taking the necessary steps to help the team succeed.
• Responding to the carpentry requests from other departments as required.
• Building, installing, and maintaining of any internal and external fixtures and related carpentry products.
• Troubleshooting and performing minor and major carpentry repairs.
• Oversee repairs and maintenance of doors, frames, partitions, ceilings, counters, fixtures, cabinetry and other structures.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, mechanical and architectural drawings, and specifications to determine structure placement.
• Ensure that hoarding when requested is installed/removed in a timely manner and a consistent inventory of hoarding is available.
• Supervising demolition, cleanup, and construction activities to ensure the safe completion of work on new and existing structures.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations and mall operational standards.
• Monitor inventory of carpentry materials, tools and supplies, order materials and ensure cost effective usage.
• Leading and facilitating toolbox meetings to communicate safety procedures and job expectations as required.
• Other responsibilities as required.

Desired Qualifications

• Applicants must have a valid Journeyman Carpentry Certification.
• A minimum of four (4) to six (6) years as a Carpenter in a commercial or industrial environment.
• Previous supervisory experience in a commercial, retail or facility maintenance environment is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, collaborate within a team, and lead or supervise team members.
• Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook are a definite asset.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances with the ability to lift and carry up to and over 50lbs, work at heights, and stand for eight (8) hours a day.

Terms Of Employment

• This is a full-time position that is required Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm
• Must possess a Class 5 driver’s license and be able to provide a clean 3-year driver’s abstract.
• Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
