MDA is seeking aJunior Systems Member of Technical Staff (MTS), Space Missionsto support our current and next‑generation earth observation and remote sensing satellites. The Junior Systems MTS, Space Missions will contribute to the definition, design, integration, verification and sustainment of SAR missions, systems and payloads across multiple satellite programs and will work with a world leading team to perform system‑level tradeoffs, prototype new innovations and drive technology road‑maps forward.

Responsibilities:

As a Junior Systems MTS, Space Missions you may have a wide range of responsibilities that include:

• tracing customer requirements to conceptual designs and preparing associated documentation

• transforming high level requirements into lower level feature requirements

• performing technical engineering tasks, such as operational analyses and trade-off studies, to define system design and subsystem details

• the analyses to support the mission development such as link budgets, delta-v budgets, pointing budgets, coverage analyses, orbital dynamics, flight dynamics, etc

• the review of the spacecraft and ground segment requirements and design from an operations perspective

• the review of design material provided by Subcontractors to ensure compliance to requirements

• the development of operations procedures, scripts, tools and other products for on-orbit commissioning and routine operations of the mission

• the verification and validation activities of the overall mission

• conduct spacecraft operations validation testing, as well as exercise and rehearsal activities

• the development of spacecraft and ground segment training plans and the oversight of their execution

• Participate as part of the core operations execution team through Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) and commissioning Phase activities in support of the transition to routine operations

• supporting work planning and cost estimates during the project’s lifecycle

You will support intermediate and senior engineers in the above tasks and have opportunities for career growth.

Required Experience:

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics or Applied Mathematics;
• Have familiarity with:
  • Matlab or similar analysis tools
  • Python or other scripting languages
  • MS Excel, for the purposes of engineering analyses
  • AGI’s Systems Tool Kit (STK)
  • MS Office
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Possess excellent problem solving skills;
• Be a self-starter with the ability to perform in a dynamic working environment; and
• Have a team-friendly attitude and willingness to learn.
• While not mandatory, candidates will benefit from any of the following:
• Understanding of different types of engineering life cycles as applicable from large complex programs to software development;
• Familiarity with Requirements Management tools such as DOORS
• Familiarity with satellite remote sensing or earth observation; or
• Familiarity with orbital mechanics, satellite communications, spacecraft design and operation considerations.

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at thereliability status leveland pass security assessment for theControlled Goods Program (CGP).

Salary for this role is $78,000-$8,3000
