About the role

POSITION: Quality Assurance Technician REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager

This position requires flexibility to support operational needs. The successful candidate must be available shift of 6:00AM to 2PM or 2PM to 10:00 PM, and occasional weekend work may be required.

The QA technician will work closely with cross functional teams to ensure that raw material or finished product is inspected and released in time and that non-conforming product disposition is handled in efficient manner .

  • You have knowledge of GFSI standards (SQF)
  • You understand HACCP concepts and processes (training in HACCP)
  • You have intermediate level Excel, Word, and Outlook skills

EXPERIENCE

  • You have a Degree in Food Science or related discipline
  • You have experience working in a similar capacity, preferably in a food production facility

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • You have experience troubleshooting complex QA issues

THINGS YOU WILL DO…

  • Ensure products meet company and regulatory standards by running tests, inspections, reports and more
  • Help manage all QA and QC records, documents, and samples pertaining to HACCP, SQF, CFIA, etc.
  • Carry out lab testing including micro test, organoleptic evaluation and other dairy tests.
  • Support with writing and improving standard operating procedures
  • Champion shelf-life studies and creating meaningful reports
  • Participate in internal and external audits and implement needed changes
  • Effectively communicate quality control expectations to employees and support with training for GMP’s
  • Verification of all sanitation activities pertaining to preoperational inspection , swabbing and calibration.

  • You are willing to work flexible shifts to cover for vacations, sick days, or leave if required
  • You must be available to work shifts that rotate:
  • Valid Driver’s License and Personal Vehicle preferred as mass transit options are minimal

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Monitor quality standards of finished product and make quality related decisions regarding compliance with company regulatory and certification standards

  • Review and maintain all QA and QC records, documents, and samples pertaining to HACCP, SQF, CFIA, etc.

  • Support with writing and updating standard operating procedures

  • Issue customer COAs

  • Conduct swabbing and another sampling following environmental monitoring program

  • Perform incoming inspection and release of raw material

  • Perform lab testing including micro test, organoleptic evaluation and other dairy quality test.

  • Assist with customer complaint investigations

  • Conduct shelf-life studies and compile reports

  • Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions

  • Effectively communicate quality control expectations to employees and support with training for GMP’s

  • Conduct QA tests to ensure products meet specifications

  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures such as BRC, HACCP, GMP’s, SSOP, process deviation, hold and release procedures

  • Report process deviations and product failures and assist in investigation and root cause analysis

  • Verification of sanitation activities ,including preoperational inspections, swabbing.

  • Maintain product traceability verifying lot numbers and systems

  • Effectively solve problems analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending the right course of action

  • Communicate effectively with the rest of the team to ensure clarity and continuity

  • Perform various inspections to ensure quality (i.e., pre-operation, ingredient, shipping & receiving)

  • Provide backup support for other QA positions as needed

  • Other duties as assigned
