Req ID: 223265Location: Central Zone, Nova Scotia Hospital Department: MHA CZ ECFH Sex Offender PgmType of Employment: Permanent Hourly PT (40%) x 1 Union: NSGEU Healthcare PositionPosting Closing Date: 14-Jul-26About the Opportunity The Clinical Psychologist reports to the Health Services Manager or designate and works under the direction of the Clinical Lead to effectively provide empirically supported assessment and treatment services to adults who have crossed legal sexual boundaries. The Forensic Sexual Behaviour Program (FSBP) offers specialized assessment and treatment services to individuals in Nova Scotia whose sexual behaviour has crossed legal boundaries. Treatment is currently being offered at four sites across the province (Kentville, Dartmouth, Truro and Sydney), whereas assessment is primarily centralized in Dartmouth where the coordination of FSBP services for the province is based. The Psychologist provides evidenced-based services while enhancing community safety. Duties include the facilitation of specialized group treatment, completion of forensic risk/needs assessments, involvement in program development and quality improvement activities, supervision of practicum students, and participation in team meetings and case consultations. While court testimony is infrequent, it is a potential aspect of any work conducted at the FSBP. Independence will be both expected and encouraged.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Master’s degree (MA/MSc) from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology (or equivalent) Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP) and in good standing Minimum of two years related clinical experience Minimum of two years research experience Requires demonstrated ability to conduct diagnostic psychological interviews Knowledge and experience with the use of recidivism risk assessment tools is preferred Knowledge and experience with the use of psychometric tests to assess personality and deception Demonstrated skills in DSM diagnosis Requires independent professional judgement, initiative, self-reliance and adaptability in developing, organizing, supervising and delivering high quality psychological services and programs Requires demonstrated ability for effective self-care and stress management Experience in a forensic setting, particularly with those who have committed sexual offences, is preferred
