Purpose of the Role:: The Fund Accountant is a key contributor to the internal administration of Nicola Wealth’s Mutual Fund Trusts and Limited Partnerships (LP). Reporting to the Manager, Fund Accounting, this role assists with the review process for the fund’s Net Asset Value (NAV) calculation, distributions and fund operations. In addition, the Fund Accountant works closely with internal teams and external service providers to ensure accurate fund operations and continuous process improvement.

This position is open to our Vancouver and Toronto offices and is a 12-month contract position.

Core Responsibilities:

e Responsibilities

  • Support review of NAVs for Nicola Funds/LPs and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Support calculation and review of fund distributions, management fees, performance fees, and fund expenses.
  • Assist in year-end audit processes
  • Handle tax-related tasks including non-resident withholding tax, tax ID applications, and investor tax slip reviews.
  • Support AP/AR function of fund operations, including preparing wire instructions for fund expenses (both external and internal) and tracking investment activities.
  • Maintain thorough supporting documentation for all transactions and processes.
  • Participate in fund operations projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in ad hoc requests and compilation of financial data for internal and external parties
  • Build strong relationships with internal departments and external partners and fund managers to ensure smooth day-to-day fund operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services or fund operations.
  • Pursuing CPA or CFA designation.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
