Supervisor (Full- time)
The Family Centre (Wallaceburg & Area Parent and Preschool Program Inc.) requires a full-time Supervisor.
Nature and Scope
The Family Centre seeks to hire a full-time Supervisor to assume the day-to-day operations of a Child Care Centre. The successful candidate will be an experienced and reliable independent multitasker seeking to work in a busy Child Care environment. You will report directly to the Centre Director.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent education and 3 years’ experience in a child care setting.
- Must have 2 years’ experience in a leadership role
- Personal attributes and characteristics that permit leadership by example and demonstration of strong commitment to the Organization and the participants. Strengths in written and verbal communication.
- Current First Aid & C.P.R.
- Supervisory and Management Skills are an asset
- Computer knowledge is an asset.
- Membership to the College of Early Childhood Educators
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Ensures effective, efficient, professional management of The Family Centre within the legislation, regulation, standards, and guidelines of the Ministry of Education/Early Years Division, such other Health and Safety legislation and regulations as may be relevant and sound in ethical and professional standards.
Performs administrative duties to support programming, financial, and centre operations, requirements of CCEYA, and Human Resource management of the assigned centre locations and staff. Models Best Practices for the RECE’s.
In consultation with the Director, and within Organization policies and guidelines and annual budget restrictions, makes purchases for programs.
Completes “emit” and “demit” child forms for the Health Unit as requested.
Enrolls new families through orientation. Prepares and organizes orientation information packages. Receives completed package to be processed.
Provides direct supervision of the child care centre, such as weekly scheduling of the program staff, including but not limited to vacation time requests, and maternity leave.
Reviews and distributes completed Pre Authorized Payment Calendars.
Assists the Director in recruiting, selection, and training.
Is responsible for evaluating, assigning, or disciplining staff, students, and volunteers.
Assists the Director in the management of program evaluation by the use of recognized and appropriate evaluation tools to ensure quality standards are being met, by utilizing resources such as the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Supports and Mentors the teachers in the preparation and delivery of Individual Program Plans and progress reports to parents regarding their child(ren).
Oversees monthly/weekly program plans and meetings and assists staff in formulating classroom goals.
Completes and conducts Performance Appraisals in conjunction with the Director.
Oversees site-specific Health and Safety inspections of facilities, including but not limited to checks on playground, water flushing, and health logs.
Sign off on all accident reports. Evaluate any patterns that are attributed to faulty equipment and report to the Director.
Acts as a liaison between the RECE staff, Community Agencies, and parents of children with extra needs. Orchestrate team meetings and assist the RECE with any follow-up requirements. Communicate information to the Director.
- Acts as the liaison between the childcare centre and the school principal, staff, and custodian.
In case of emergencies, acts on behalf of the Director, i.e., fire, and serious occurrences. At all times, ensure that proper staff/child ratios will be met, and that appropriate staffing is assigned.
Participates in all staff meetings.
Manages phone inquiries and other general business with professional promptness and courtesy.
Participates in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and all other aspects of professional growth.
Maintains accurate, organized filing systems – past and present.
- Is available to sit on and participate in appropriate committees and attend meetings to maintain a positive link with associated services in Chatham Kent. Could be required to attend meetings or events outside of business hours.
In cooperation with the Director, provides opportunities for staff, parents, and community workshops or child-related events throughout the year.
Performs additional site-specific duties as assigned by the Director.
**HOURS OF WORK:**35 hours per week.
