We have three (3) permanent full-time positions located at our main office in SE, Calgary.

Working days will be on Mondays to Fridays, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Program Summary

The Calgary Alternative Poss-Abilities (CAPA) program supports a strengths-based, client-directed approach to service. We endeavor to assist adults by providing support and advocacy with systems navigation and access, development of community connections, and personal empowerment.

We offer personal empowerment through support and advocacy with systems navigation and access and community connections as well as case management and service coordination. The domains of focus include: assessment, finance, housing, justice, employment, education, parenting, relationships, and health.

Job Summary

The Workshop Facilitator is responsible for the design, delivery and coordination of a structured skill-building workshop series aligned with Cross Disability Support Services (CDSS) expectations. The workshop series provides participants with practical knowledge and tools to support independence, stability, and community participation.

The Workshop Facilitator delivers an 8-week, cohort-based workshop series using interactive and accessible approaches that support diverse learning needs. Workshops focus on developing practical life skills, enhancing confidence, and supporting participants to apply learning in real-life situations.

The Workshop Facilitator works collaboratively with internal staff and community partners to ensure participants are connected to relevant resources and supports that enhance independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Client

Workshop Facilitation

  • Deliver a structured 8-week skill-building workshop series in both in-person and virtual formats
  • Design and Facilitate workshops on topics including:
  • Daily living routines and organization
  • Financial literacy and budgeting
  • Communication and boundary setting
  • Problem-solving and decision-making
  • Healthy social networks and community connection
  • Navigating community resources and service systems
  • Housing stability and tenancy basics
  • Goal review and skill integration
  • Use interactive and practical teaching methods, including group discussion, role play, and real-life scenarios
  • Support participants to practice and apply skills during sessions
  • Reinforce learning by connecting weekly topics and encouraging skill integration

Participant Engagement and Support

  • Create inclusive, respectful, and accessible learning environments
  • Adapt facilitation approaches to meet diverse learning, communication, and accessibility needs
  • Encourage participant engagement, collaboration, and peer interaction
  • Support participants to:
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Strengthen communication and decision-making skills
  • Identify personal goals related to workshop content
  • Provide in-session support and clarification to reinforce understanding

Workshop Coordination and Logistics

  • Coordinate day-to-day workshop delivery, including:
  • Session scheduling (as assigned)
  • Room and virtual platform setup
  • Preparation of materials and resources
  • Ensure workshops are delivered in accessible and appropriate environments
  • Distribute materials and take-home resources to participants
  • Maintain organization of workshop supplies and materials

Workshop Development

Participate in the design of workshop content in consultation with the CAPA Program Manager

  • Provide feedback based on:
  • Participant engagement and learning needs
  • Workshop delivery experience
  • Observed outcomes and challenges
  • Assist with updating materials, activities, and resources to enhance relevance and accessibility
  • Support consistency of workshop delivery across facilitators by following established curriculum and guidance

Documentation and Participation Tracking

  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including:
  • Attendance tracking
  • Basic participation notes
  • Submit required documentation in accordance with program expectations and timelines
  • Support data collection processes as directed by the Program Manager

Agency/ Program (CAPA)

  • Ensure all services are delivered in alignment with:
  • CAPA Operations Manual
  • CDSS program expectations (as they relate to workshop delivery)
  • CASS Policies and Procedures
  • Support participant orientation to workshops as required
  • Complete administrative tasks including timesheets, meeting participation, and required documentation
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards in all interactions

Culture

  • Model and demonstrate CASS values in all interactions with clients, staff, and community members
  • Demonstrate respect and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders of the CASS organization
  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback
  • Conduct duties in a fair, ethical, transparent manner with honesty and integrity in accordance and familiarity with CASS policies and procedures, Code of Ethics for
  • Rehabilitation Professionals, and other applicable professional bodies

Qualifications and Experience

  • Several years of experience in Human Services
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and service navigation
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta CDSS and broader disability service systems
  • Experience conducting needs-based assessments and person-centred planning
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in non-profit or community-based services is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Required Education

  • Degree or diploma in a Human Services related discipline

Other Required Skills

  • A current Basic First Aid/Emergency First Aid certification that includes CPR/AED
  • A current Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search that is satisfactory to CASS. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with CASS
  • A vehicle and valid driver's license are considered assets
