What You'll Be Doing The Director, Tax Transfer Pricing will work on a broad range of Canadian tax technical issues in respect of tax transfer pricing. The role will be responsible for providing support and tax advice to stakeholders across CIBC. The Director will report to the Senior Director of International Tax Planning & Advisory.

  • Tax Transfer Pricing- Advise and plan in respect of tax transfer pricing matters and partner with internal stakeholders on related tax matters and support compliance with tax transfer pricing legislation. Lead updates and development of transfer pricing contemporaneous documentation, and related transfer pricing documentation dimensions.
  • Tax Legislation- Keep abreast of tax legislative and administrative changes in respect of tax transfer pricing rules and inform impacted stakeholders. Research for and provide technical guidance on tax transfer pricing matters including for the purposes of preparing tax transfer pricing reports (country-by-country reports, T106s, etc.)
  • Stakeholder Management- Analyze new tax transfer pricing legislation and work with various stakeholders to assess and quantify impact to CIBC. Support the tax compliance team on the effective implementation of projects/business initiatives with tax transfer pricing dimensions, as well as monitoring any related ongoing tax reporting and/or tax accounting requirements. Liaise with various governmental authorities and industry groups (Canada Revenue Agency, Department of Finance (Canada), Canadian Bankers Association), including making submissions regarding tax issues, requests for rulings and interpretations, consultation on proposed legislation.

Who You Are

  • You are designated. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (preferably CPA, CA) or tax lawyer. Completed Levels I and II of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Taxation. Completion of the In-depth International Tax course is preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office products plus able to quickly learn new relevant add-on applications if required, e.g., Alteryx.
  • You can demonstrate experience. 5 or more years of work experience in Canadian tax transfer pricing.
  • You are analytical. Excellent research and analysis Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to implement the solutions. Results-oriented, self-motivated, proactive and proven ability to work independently. Focused, thorough and disciplined in approach.
  • You have strong communication skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Decisive, confident and comfortable working closely with and collaborating with business partners.
