About the position:
The Social Worker provides clinical social work services to patients and conducts comprehensive social work and psychosocial assessments with patients suffering acute episodes of mental illness and substance misuse/dependence using a variety of modalities and in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices. In this role the Social Worker educates and provides support and consultation to patients, families and healthcare professionals. As a member of an integrated, interdisciplinary team, takes a key role in discharge planning and ensuring optimal continuity of care through activities such as liaison, referral, resource finding, advocacy, coordination, brokerage and pre-placement visits. Develops, coordinates and delivers in-services, presentations, psycho-educational and support groups and initiates, develops and carries out research activities in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The Social Worker is expected to engage the patient & their support system as people with full competence and as full collaborators as full collaborators in service planning, delivery and evaluation.
About the worksite:
Hillside Centre is a 44 bed facility located on the Royal Inland Hospital campus. The facility provides services to both adults and elderly individuals with acute illness and/or severely dysfunctional behaviours who cannot be cared for in the psychiatric system in their own area. The focus is on diagnosis and stabilization with rehabilitation strategies to promote stabilization and reintegration into the community to return home.

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.
Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
Current valid BC driver’s license.
