POSITION TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time

BRANCH: Calgary, AB

REPORTING TO: Controller, Accounting Operations

Reporting to the Controller, Accounting Operations, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing both the AR and general accounting functions as well as any related day-to-day accounting and month-end closing requirements of RME and the related companies. The Accounting Manager is a key accounting resource supporting both operations, administration, and corporate activities. This position presents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping to grow and shape our accounting team at our Calgary corporate office. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with leadership to build a cohesive and high performing team within the accounting department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Group Controller and Controller, Accounting Operations with the management and support of the ongoing day to day activities of the accounting group.
  • Participate in the accurate and timely close of the accounting period end, including supporting the Controllers with month-end reviews, working papers and consolidations for the Group.
  • Aid in the development, improvement, implementation, and design of policies and procedures, with eye towards efficiencies.
  • Manage daily activities, development, and performance of the A/R team as applicable, helping to ensure data is entered into the accounting system accurately, and in a timely fashion
  • Manage daily activities, development, and performance of General Accountants/Accounting Clerks (who are responsible for accounting of fixed assets, prepaids, parts inventory etc.), as applicable
  • Support intercompany reconciliations and adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s accounting principles, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and support external audit requirements.
  • Support the Treasury function by overseeing the recording/submission of deposits, including ongoing communication with Branch Administrators, and preparation of bank reconciliations as well as administering POS terminals and portal.
  • Performance reviews and establishing goals for direct reports (3-5 direct reports)
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Accounting Department.

Job Requirements and Qualifications Include:

  • 3+ years of general accounting experience or similar.
  • A post-secondary degree in a related discipline.
  • CPA designated accountant preferred
  • Past supervisory, coaching, or leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles and standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Power Query & Power Automate would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment for continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Proficient ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This position is 100% in person at our Calgary Corporate office.
