Position Overview
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Social Worker has primary therapist responsibilities providing assessment and brief, crisis-oriented psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families in the day treatment program and general outpatient child and youth programs. The Social Worker participates in all aspects of program planning, treatment and discharge.
The Social Worker will provide services across the outpatient child and youth mental health programs as needed, based on operational needs.
Education
- Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers or a candidate for registration.
- Master of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work or equivalent degree as recognized by the Ontario College of Social Workers &Social Service Workers.
Experience
- Experience with children and adolescents in an acute crisis and\or suffering from a serious mental health illness.
- Experience with related acute crisis interventions.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with histories of severe trauma, abuse and or self harm.
- Experience supporting adolescents who are disengaged from school, and their families
- Experience working on an outpatient acute care mental health interdisciplinary team
- Experience providing family psychotherapeutic interventions
- Mental illness psycho-educational experience with children and families.
- Well developed family and group work intervention skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of related legislation.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health community resources.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and competency with diverse populations.
- Good work and attendance record required.
