What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and supervise all story artists, providing creative direction, mentorship, and solutions throughout production.

  • Lead storyboard launches to communicate the show’s storytelling style and ensure artistic alignment.

  • Review storyboards and animatics, delivering feedback before they are shared with producers and stakeholders.

  • Translate scripts into compelling visual narratives that enhance the emotional and cinematic impact of the story.

  • Provide direction in the creation and maintenance of the series bible/style guide.

  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure schedules are met and creative quality remains high.

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with executive producers, stakeholders, and other department leads.

  • Work closely with executive and client creative teams to maintain alignment on the show’s vision.

  • Foster a positive, productive team environment and support the development of story artists.

  • Ensure integration of storyboard work into the broader production pipeline and cross-departmental workflows.

  • Lead communication across teams to ensure consistent understanding of visual storytelling goals.

  • Manage priorities and deadlines effectively, balancing creative expectations with production realities.

  • Proactively identify risks and collaborate with production staff to develop solutions.

  • Maintain documentation and visual references that promote consistency and clarity across the team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Storyboard Director or Lead Storyboard Artist in high-end animation productions.

  • Strong storytelling sensibility with a deep understanding of cinematography, composition, and pacing.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear direction, incorporate feedback, and collaborate across departments.

  • Experience mentoring and guiding artists, fostering a creative and productive team environment.

  • Ability to make quick, confident decisions under tight deadlines while maintaining creative integrity.

  • Extensive experience using Storyboard Pro and other relevant storyboard software.

A portfolio that showcases:

  • Dynamic storytelling with character-driven sequences.

  • A range of scene types, including action, dialogue, and emotional beats.

  • Strong drawing ability with emphasis on expressive character work, staging, and perspective.

Benefits

Pay Range: CAD $2200 - $2400 per week

This salary range reflects our current expectations for these roles as of this posting’s date. Your final salary offer will consider various key factors, including your education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographical location, as well as the needs and requirements of the business.
