Accounting Assistant (Part-Time)

Nichols Environmental (Canada) Ltd. (Nichols) is a full-service geo-environmental consulting and remediation firm that provides environmental and engineering solutions to a wide range of industrial, government and public sector clients. Nichols continues to expand our operations throughout western Canada and requires a part-time Accounting Assistant to join our team.

Our Edmonton head office is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team on a part-time (20+ hours per week/flexible position) basis to work with our current professional and administrative staff. The position would be based out of our Edmonton head office. The successful candidate should have the following:
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are preferred but not limited to:
- High School Diploma;
- Familiarity and some previous experience with accounting;
- The ability to work as a team and independently to meet critical deadlines;
- Exceptional communication skills – reading, writing and verbal;
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- A working knowledge of financial/accounting software;
- Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software would be an asset;
- The ability to support and mentor other employees to foster development and facilitate the transfer of knowledge within the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities for the Accounting Assistant may include, but are not limited to:
- Recording data in a manner that conforms to the current standards and regulations set out by the various regulatory bodies within the environmental consulting industry as well as Nichols’ policies.
- Office and project administration such as data entry, setup, deployment, invoicing, follow up, close out, accounts payable/receivable, timesheets, expenses, reconciliation, payroll, and more.
- Support staff members with achieving project compliance, requirements, and commitments.
- Assist in development of standard operating procedures including but not limited to health and safety, data collection and entry, the reporting process, and other corporate procedures.
- Participate in the development of system improvements (administrative, project specific, IT, etc.).
- Technical recovery and equipment log input.
- Comply with fair and equitable human resources policies that meet federal and provincial employment standards.
- Assist in the presentation and administration of company policies and procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security.
- Other duties as required.
