PURPOSE:
The Strapping Tool Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and testing industrial strapping tools to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role supports daily operations by completing accurate tool assessments, performing manual, electronic and pneumatic repairs, documenting repair activities, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient repair workspace.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Tool Inspection & Diagnostics
- Inspect incoming strapping tools to identify mechanical, pneumatic, or operational issues.
- Diagnose tool failures using visual inspection, testing equipment, and manufacturer documentation.
- Determine required parts, labor, and repair scope for each tool.
- Communicate repair findings clearly through detailed repair reports.
2. Tool Repair & Maintenance
- Perform repairs, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance on manual, pneumatic, and battery-powered strapping tools.
- Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble tools according to manufacturer specifications.
- Replace worn or damaged components using approved parts.
- Test repaired tools to ensure proper functionality, safety, and performance prior to release.
3. Documentation & Quality Control
- Complete accurate repair reports, including parts used, labor performed, and test results.
- Follow ISO 9001 standards for tool identification, tagging, tracking, and documentation.
- Ensure all repairs meet internal quality standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Identify recurring issues and report trends or concerns to management.
4. Inventory & Parts Coordination
- Identify required repair parts and communicate needs to the administrative or inventory team.
- Properly label, handle, and store parts removed from or installed into tools.
- Maintain an organized repair bench and parts staging area.
- Assist with inventory counts and tool-related stock management as required.
5. Shipping, Receiving & Shop Support
- Receive tools arriving for repair and verify accompanying documentation.
- Prepare completed tools for return shipment following company packaging standards.
- Assist with general shop organization, cleanliness, and safe material handling.
- Support team members with workflow coordination as needed.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience repairing industrial equipment or tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and parts schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for entering repair data and reviewing work orders.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and commitment to service excellence.
- Previous experience repairing strapping tools, pneumatic tools, or similar industrial equipment (preferred).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards (an asset).
- Ability to lift 30kg and perform hands-on mechanical work throughout the day.
- Forklift Operator Certificate (an asset)
Working Hours:
- This position follows a Monday to Thursday schedule, with standard working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
