Job Description

We are looking for a talented individual…

To join our team as a Sr. Key Account Manager – Energy Efficiency. This role is focused on driving new participation in the Save On Energy Business Retrofit Program by building relationships with large, energy‑intensive industrial customers across Southwestern Ontario.

This is a growth‑oriented, hunter role responsible for opening doors, establishing senior‑level relationships, and generating a pipeline of incentive‑eligible retrofit opportunities. Success is driven by proactive outreach, credibility with industrial stakeholders, and the ability to translate customer needs into viable energy efficiency projects.

The Sr. Key Account Manager acts as a trusted advisor and technical sales lead, initiating opportunities and guiding customers through the incentive process with support from internal technical teams. Relationships with trade allies and industry partners are leveraged where helpful.

This role is based in the GTA or Southwestern Ontario, with flexible travel across the region (typically 1–3 days per week). A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required; mileage is reimbursed.

You’re a great fit if you can…

  • Proactively identify and develop net‑new customer relationships within energy‑intensive industrial and commercial sectors.
  • Act as a hunter, opening doors and engaging senior stakeholders across operations, engineering, finance, and leadership.
  • Manage a portfolio of 30–40 large accounts, balancing new opportunity generation with transitioned active accounts.
  • Lead early‑stage technical sales conversations and identify high‑impact energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Support Save On Energy Retrofit applications by coordinating documentation and working with internal technical teams (without performing calculations).
  • Build and leverage relationships with trade allies, contractors, distributors, and OEMs.
  • Focus on priority industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, petroleum and coal, chemical manufacturing, non‑metallic minerals, primary metals, and transportation equipment manufacturing.
  • Track activity, pipeline, and performance using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Represent the program professionally in the market and at customer or industry meetings.

Exciting candidates will have…

  • Strong experience in industrial or technical sales, key account management, or large capital project environments.
  • A proven ability to generate leads, influence decision‑makers, and advance long sales cycles.
  • Experience working within or selling into energy‑intensive industrial sectors. (e.g., pulp and paper, petrochemical, chemical, metals, or similar).
  • Comfort initiating energy efficiency conversations and qualifying opportunities, while relying on internal experts for detailed analysis.
  • Excellent relationship‑building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • A highly self‑directed, resilient, and results‑driven mindset.

Assets:

  • Experience with energy efficiency, utility, or incentive‑based programs.
  • Energy or engineering designations (e.g., CEM, P.Eng).
  • CRM or structured sales methodology experience.
