Job Title: Underwriting Assistant
Location: Toronto Office – Markham, Ontario
Employment Type: Full-Time (Hybrid)
This position is responsible for providing the Underwriting team with daily administrative support needed to underwrite profitable risks, produce accurate data entry that moves insurance policy decisions forward and potentially generates new business. The Underwriting assistant also supports brokers to meet the long-term goal of ensuring that Global remains the industry leader in its field. Further duties and responsibilities are below:
Liaison and support to underwriters, finance team and external broker clients to assist in Global’s policy quoting and issuance procedures. Specific responsibilities include:
- Data entry for new business submissions
- Processing of new/renewable aviation business including policy endorsement issuance and supporting premium calculations
- The development of underwriting information, including submission data, loss run reports and other requirements to support quote process
- Review and correction of premium discrepancies where necessary
- Development and issuance of insurance certificates that meet policy and regulatory requirements
- Compliance and policy review procedures
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
Skills / Experience:
- 1 or more years of experience in general insurance administration/customer service
- Customer service oriented with an interest or passion for Aviation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products
- Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with key stakeholders
- Strong organizational, time management and co-ordination skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize heavy workload while adhering to deadlines
- Strong self-motivation with an ability to make swift decisions
Education & Training:
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (CAEC) required
- Post secondary education or diploma/certificate in a relevant aviation program an asset
- Other relevant insurance industry experience or designations (e.g., CIP or CRM) an asset
Physical Demands / Working Conditions:
During peak volumes and “busy seasons” vacation schedule will be subject to manager review

Ability to:
- Forge and maintain relationships
- Work well in a small team environment, promoting the open exchange of information and ideas
- Manage conflict when it arises and handle difficult conversations
- Solve problems in a positive and courteous manner
- French language skills desirable
