Location: Primarily remote within Canada; occasional onsite presence required in Edmonton, Alberta

Duration: 5 months
Key Responsibilities
- Architect secure, high-performance cloud/hybrid data ecosystems on Azure.
- Develop ingestion, transformation, integration pipelines (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks).
- Manage Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 environments.
- Integrate data from ServiceNow and geospatial systems via APIs/custom scripts.
- Build semantic models/data marts for BI, analytics, ML.
- Optimize workloads using Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Publish secure APIs via Azure API Management.
- Implement data governance, metadata, lineage via Purview.
- Ensure FOIP/GDPR compliance and data privacy controls.
- Mentor data teams; collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and optimize pipeline performance.
Requirements Must-Have Qualifications Education
- College degree or Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field
Experience
- 3 years - Managing Databricks workspace (clusters, governance, monitoring, cost optimization)
- 8 years - Enterprise Data Architecture aligning data strategies to business goals
- 4 years - Designing analytics-ready datasets, semantic layers (Power BI, Synapse)
- 4 years - GitHub/Git workflows, version control, CI/CD integration
- 5 years - Azure services (Storage, SQL, Synapse, networking, authentication: MI/Service Principals)
- 6 years - Python (PySpark) & SQL for enterprise ETL/ELT orchestration
- 3 years - Building scalable pipelines using Databricks, Delta Lake, Workflows, Jobs, Notebooks
- (Microsoft Fabric experience = asset)
