A****bout the position

The Trainer elevates operational excellence by delivering transformative training experiences, ensuring role competency through precise coaching and evaluation, maintaining accurate training records, and continuously innovating learning programs — all to inspire confidence, drive engagement, and uphold safety and compliance standards.

Reports to: Manager, Training

Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead Transformational Training Experiences - Deliver dynamic workshops and immersive On-the-Job Training (OJT/VILT) sessions that inspire confidence and mastery. Facilitate interactive discussions, group activities, and real-world scenario-based learning to drive engagement and deepen understanding.

Champion Performance Excellence - Set the gold standard for operational and safety excellence by conducting competency sign-off with precision for employees and designates. Guide employees in mastering role-specific tasks while upholding the highest safety and compliance standards.

Drive Accountability Through Training Records - Maintain meticulous training records, capturing attendance, progress, and outcomes in SumTotal LMS to ensure a seamless and data-driven learning experience.

Elevate Potential Through Coaching - Provide impactful one-on-one and group coaching that unlocks individual strengths and accelerates role competency. Support trainees in building confidence, skill, and precision in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Innovate & Elevate Training Programs - Commit to continuous growth by refining facilitation skills and enhancing training content. Integrate cutting-edge instructional methods like problem-based learning, gamification, storytelling, and teach-backs to drive engagement and operational excellence.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year qualifications training Ramp, Cargo and/or Airport Operations (Customer Facing)

  • Deliver dynamic training workshops and immersive On-the-Job Training (OJT/VILT) sessions.

  • Facilitate interactive discussions, group activities, and scenario-based learning.

  • Conduct competency sign-offs for employees, ensuring operational and safety excellence.

  • Maintain accurate training records in SumTotal LMS.

  • Provide impactful one-on-one and group coaching aligned with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Continuously refine facilitation skills and enhance training content.

  • Integrate instructional methods such as problem-based learning, gamification, and storytelling.

  • Apply specialized technical knowledge acquired through formal/informal training or experience.

  • Coordinate training schedules and activities for multiple teams.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills: frequent guidance, direction, mentoring, and feedback.

  • Minimum education: 2–3 year Specialized Community College diploma (preferred: Adult Education, Aviation Management, or related field).

  • Minimum experience: 2–3 years in training, operations, or leadership.

  • Willingness to travel extensively.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills and experience.

  • Knowledge of Canadian North Cargo standards and procedures considered an asset.

  • Certifications (asset): CTDP (Certified Training & Development Professional)

  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut a definite asset.

  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.

  • Competency sign off on all equipment, wing walking and specialized training.

  • Successful passing of Safety Training exam.
