Part-Time K-5 Yoga Instructor
About the role
Newbridge Academy is seeking a positive, energetic, and engaging Yoga Instructor to lead weekly yoga classes for our Kindergarten to Grade 5 students during the 2026–2027 school year.
This is an excellent opportunity for an instructor who enjoys working with young children and is passionate about promoting mindfulness, healthy movement, flexibility, and overall well-being in a fun and supportive environment.
Schedule
- Thursdays: 1:15 p.m. – 2:35 p.m.
- Two classes each week:
- Kindergarten–Grade 2
- Grades 3–5
- Class sizes of approximately 10–15 students
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate yoga classes that foster mindfulness, body awareness, and healthy movement.
- Create a calm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where students can develop focus, self-regulation, confidence, and resilience.
- Incorporate breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices appropriate for elementary-aged students.
- Adapt lessons to meet the developmental needs of different age groups and abilities.
- Collaborate with school staff to support a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Conference with teachers on student participation and progress as requested.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching yoga to children is preferred.
- Certification in yoga instruction is considered an asset.
- Experience incorporating mindfulness practices into classes is an asset.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Current Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Compensation
- $30–35 per hour , based on qualifications and experience.
