ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to Manager of Community Engagement & Major Events
SUMMARY
The KPU Community Ambassador is an integral part of the Community Engagement & Major Events Office (CEME), and shares the KPU student experience with prospective students, their parents, and attendees at community events.
The Community Ambassador performs student engagement, recruitment, and branding tasks and assists CEME in other duties as needed. Successful Community Ambassadors are enthusiastic, outgoing, quick-thinking, customer service oriented, and creative problem solvers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal Duties
- Conduct informative campus tours for prospective students.
- Engage with prospective students & community members at events, on social media, and in email and telephone communications.
- Assist with event planning, setup, coordination, and operational logistics.
- Provide knowledgeable, timely, and professional customer service.
- Act in accordance with KPU branding standards.
Campus Tour Duties
- Prepare information packages and manage logistics for tours.
- Conduct campus tours.
- Report on tour attendance.
Prospect Engagement Duties
- Attend events to liaise with prospective students and share the student experience at KPU.
- Use social media and other digital technologies to engage with prospects.
- Refer prospects to further KPU resources (FSO, KPU International, Assessment & Testing, etc.).
Event Support Duties:
- Assist in conducting volunteer training.
- Act as team leader for volunteers.
- Assist in promoting CEME events.
- Assist in coordinating event logistics.
Communications Duties
- Update contact lists and records as needed.
- Assist in preparing information packages for distribution.
- Assist in responding to in-person, telephone, e-mail, and social media inquiries.
Other Duties
- Assist with photocopying and collation of materials.
- Assist with data collection and entry.
- Other tasks as required by CEME.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current KPU student in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Outgoing and enthusiastic
- Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office software
- Reliable, responsible, professional, customer service oriented
- Able to work as part of a team and independently
- Able to effectively multi-task
- Experienced public speaker
- Effective multi-tasker
- Social Media savvy
- Sensitive to diverse student needs
- Available for shifts at any campus or community event, as needed
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
Note: Preference will be given to candidates who have access to a reliable vehicle and candidates who speak a second language.
This position is reserved for KPU Students only
Salary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
