What you'll do:
The Release Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the successful and predictable release of software changes into production. This position coordinates the readiness of each release by driving alignment across Product, Technology, SQA, and Security teams.
Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, the Release Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all release artifacts, approvals, and dependencies are tracked and complete. This role requires a attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of software development workflows, and clear communication across teams.
Key responsibilities include maturing the release process, improving documentation, coordinating daily and weekly triage meetings, and maintaining a consistent and scalable release calendar.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Maintain and communicate the release schedule, including calendar milestones and target delivery timelines.
- Prepare and coordinate Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Test Result Review Board (TRB), and Operational Readiness Reviews (ORR) meetings; manage all release documentations in Confluence.
- Ensure release notes, deployment plans, and all supporting documentation are complete and accessible before go-live.
- Support preparation of the Acceptance Tracking Sheet, working with Product Owners, Technical Delivery Lead, and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to confirm release scope, test plan coverage, and readiness, while validating that feature test plans meet quality standards.
- Ensure security scans are completed and approved prior to release.
- Facilitate daily release triage calls to track issues, blockers, and progress against target release dates.
- Maintain the Environment Change Log and update the Upcoming Release Coordination page.
- Coordinate the resolution of release conflicts with Product and Project teams.
- Lead the weekly Upcoming Release Coordination meeting, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
- Attend vendor meetings as needed and support external coordination.
- Track and report on release KPIs and contribute to release process improvements.
- Support post-production incident tracking and reporting to ensure visibility into release impact and resolution timelines.
- Monitor and track all development, pre-production, and production environments, ensuring real-time visibility of health, uptime, and deployed version details (build number, commit hash, and deployment timestamp).
- Escalate and coordinate urgent resolution of environment issues, engaging the right stakeholders immediately and tracking actions until full recovery.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma/certification in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a release coordination, software delivery, or a technical project support role.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, or similar release planning platforms.
- Previous exposure to DevOps, QA processes, or security scan tools (e.g. Veracode) is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for reports, emails, and meeting documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent releases in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; capable of influencing and aligning teams without direct authority.
- Comfortable working across geographically distributed teams and time zones.
- A proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership for tasks from start to completion.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving priorities and processes.
- Exposure to Agile release practices, SDLC, and environment management concepts.
- A lifelong learner committed to staying current with emerging technologies and industry innovations, while continuously improving and contributing to the team’s success.
We are dedicated to transparency in our hiring process. $61,600 - $77,000 annually, reflects a reasonable expectation for pay for the position depending on qualifications and experience. This compensation is specific to the role within our organization and takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to job-related skills, experience and relevant training or education, business and organizational needs.
