Overview

The Senior Research Assistant (SRA) will perform varied and specialized research tasks requiring formal training, technical knowledge, and a high degree of independence to support pandemic preparedness and public engagement initiatives. Working under the supervision of the Research Associate and Principal Investigator, the SRA will contribute to PRECISE_ENGAGE by conducting reviews, designing outreach materials, and supporting community co-creation projects. The role involves applying scientific principles, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring efficient project operations.

PRECISE (Prepare, REact, Collect, Innovate, Share, and Engage Pandemic Platform) is a recently funded multi-institution project that aims to advance pandemic preparedness and biomanufacturing in Canada. A team of > 60 researchers across multiple organizations in Canada, along with partners in public health and public/private sectors, are part of PRECISE to improve diagnostics. Our team (PRECISE_ENGAGE) is responsible for leading the public engagement strategy and platform for PRECISE.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reviews of engagement strategies related to pandemic responses.
  • Support the development of community co-creation projects using creative approaches.
  • Design informational and outreach materials using CANVA, Adobe, or similar tools.
  • Assist with data collection, preliminary analysis, and reporting. Provide guidance on project protocols and support the training of junior research staff.
  • Maintain quality control, follow standard operating procedures, and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Currently enrolled in a health, social, or humanities program.
  • Organized, creative, and analytical with proficiency in CANVA, Adobe, or similar design tools.
  • Interest in rural health or public health.
