About St. Jude School is a small, close-knit community in East Vancouver. This school prides itself on its diversity and faith community while being accessible to most of the lower mainland thanks to its centralized location.
Job Description St. Jude School, a Catholic school established in 1955 and located in the beautiful city of Vancouver, is seeking to hire a 0.4 part time Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position is a short term contract for those new to CISVA and Continuing Contract for those who are already on a Continuing Contract in CISVA.
A successful candidate will...
- Be a practicing Catholic who can model the faith for others and give witness to the Gospel message of Jesus
- Be willing and able to work collaboratively within the school community
- Have a strong understanding of project based and inquiry learning, core and curricular competencies, and best practices in assessment strategies
- Be able to adapt instructional methods to support different learning styles through UDL
- Be familiar with current best practices with early literacy intervention
- Be willing to administer literacy assessments (Dibels, JJ Basic Reading Inventory, Alberta Diagnostic, etc.) or be willing to learn
- Have excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Have experience working with students who are at various points in their learning journey
- Be willing to commit to extracurriculars (sports, arts, music, clubs, etc) to further support the goals of the school

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
About Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA)
The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.
Teachers interested in making a career with CISVA should apply to the Superintendent's Office. Support staff, including Education Assistants, should apply directly to the individual schools.
