Purpose:
The Cleanroom Technician supports the Pharmacy Department at Royal Drugs Hamilton by accurately and aseptically compounding, preparing, assembling, labelling, and packaging sterile medications in strict accordance with SOPs. The role ensures high product quality through strong technical knowledge, aseptic skills, integrity, and sound judgment, while also assisting with routine production support activities such as inventory maintenance, quality assurance monitoring, and cleaning. Routine tasks are performed independently, with unusual issues referred to the supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:
- The Technician must have the flexibility to assist in other production support activities such as: inventory maintenance, quality assurance monitoring, product labeling, packaging and cleaning procedures.
- The work performed is of a routine nature. Unusual problems are referred to the incumbent’s supervisor.
- Commits to being fully engaged, caring, and enthusiastic about the organization and its goals
- Adheres to corporate, regulatory, and individual responsibilities supporting the Company’s quality management programs, supporting policies, procedures, work instructions, and relevant software.
- Adheres to the Company’s commitment to and policy on Code of Conduct
- Adheres to organizational and individual health and safety responsibilities in the workplace
- Maintains up-to-date Health and Safety training
- Maintains up-to-date training designated for this position via specific training as required
- Maintain inventories of supplies in the staging and cleanroom sufficient to meet production demands.
- Assemble, inspect and verify all production components against production documents prior to compounding.
- Aseptically compound solutions following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Complete in process and final inspections of product as required by SOPs.
- Ensure completion of all required Quality Assurance entries on production documentation.
- Operate and maintain equipment used in the production, packaging, and labeling of compounded products.
- Perform validation, calibration, and microbiological monitoring and checking as required by standards and SOPs.
- Label and package compounded product to ensure proper identification and integrity for shipping and final use
- Assist in the cleaning of equipment, totes, and work surfaces and maintain facility compliance with Royal Drugs standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to line clearance principles through all stages of production.
- Prepare the various cleaning and stock solutions following compounding and measuring processes as outlined in SOP’s
- Prepare all IV compounding as per SOP’s (TPN, IV)
- Maintain and participate in inventory counts and expiries.
- Maintain and clean all sterile areas as designated by Team Leader or Supervisor
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintains up-to-date training designated for this position including health and safety training via Learning Management System and/or others as assigned.
- Internally: The Cleanroom Technician is in contact with the other staff members of the pharmacy and warehouse departments.
- Externally: there are no interactions outside of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Secondary school education and Pharmacy Technician Diploma from CCAPP recognized program

Previous pharmacy work experience and experience with aseptic compounding of infusions is an asset
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and handle fluctuating workloads
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Excellent continuous improvement skills
- Proven ability to adhere to standards & procedures and maintain confidentiality
- Positive, can-do attitude with ability to perform effectively in a team environment or independently
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with all levels both inside and outside the organization
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
