IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Associate to join our Cash Management & Treasury team!
The Associate, Cash Management & Treasury prepares the daily cash forecast for client investment portfolios and IMCO Pool Strategies, executes capital calls and ensures all strategy funding requirements are met. The Associate assists in the implementation of appropriate cash management and treasury strategies and plans. Under the general direction of the Manager, Cash Management & Treasury, the Associate will be responsible for determining and executing the appropriate movements of cash to minimize interest rate risk to minimize counterparty exposure risk, ensuring timely settlement of cash transactions. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of client liquidity reports for Senior Management. The Associate will be responsible for recording all journal entries for bank transactions. Stays abreast of and reports on market conditions and trends as it relates to cash management and treasury. Manages and develops working relationships internally and with external vendors such as banks, custodians, and brokers.
The Associate will work with fellow members of the Cash Management & Treasury team, as well as collaborating with Investments and other internal stakeholders, to deliver daily reports and project deliverables. The role reports to the Manager, Cash Management & Treasury.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare daily client cash forecasts.
- Execution of cash transfers, wire payments and ensure timely settlement.
- Maintain internal and external settlement instructions and set-up wire templates in banking applications.
- Record journal entries for bank transactions.
- Complete Bank Reconciliations across managed accounts
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Investments, Investment Finance) on project tasks and to service ad-hoc requests.
- Maintain external relationships with various banks, custodians and brokers.
- Other duties as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
- Post-secondary training in Business or Finance or related experience 1-2 years in cash management & treasury.
- Professional accounting/investment designation (CPA, CFA, CTP, MFin, etc.) would be an asset.
- Knowledge of cash management and treasury processes, gained through experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and to effectively deal with internal and external clients and suppliers.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting practices, principles, and internal control requirements, including knowledge of capital markets, investment products, trade processing and settlement to accurately record the general ledger postings that represent the activities within the cash account.
- Superior analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills are required to identify and recommend potential opportunities, coordinating and maintaining up to date information on returns and risks.
- High attention to detail as errors could have an impact on client cash availability and rates of return.
- Proficient with MS Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and 3rd party banking applications.
- Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels.
