Short Summary
The General Accountant supports financial reporting, accounts receivable, capital fixed assets, and budgeting activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, assisting with month-end processes, and providing financial analysis to support business operations.
Job Description
Financial Reporting & Month-End
· Prepare and reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
· Assist with monthly financial reporting packages and variance analysis
· Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, reallocations, revenue, capitalization)
· Produce ad hoc financial reports and management analyses
· Support project-based financial evaluations
Capital Fixed Assets
· Assist with fixed asset administration, tagging, and record maintenance
· Validate capital transactions, useful lives, and depreciation
· Support monthly depreciation, asset continuity schedules, and quarterly asset reviews
Reconciliations & Revenue Controls
· Reconcile electronic payments across all revenue streams
· Reconcile gift cards, concessions, online ticket sales, partnerships, and refunds
· Conduct periodic cash audits and support inventory counts
Accounts Receivable & Billing
· Support A/R operations including payment application, reconciliations, and collections
· Prepare and issue customer invoices (rentals, Food & Beverage, partnerships, group functions, utilities, taxes)
· Analyze outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts
· Process deposits, prepayments, credit card charges, and A/R adjustments
· Respond to A/R-related customer inquiries
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Assist with budget and forecast preparation
· Compile and analyze financial and budget data
· Support budget templates and master budget files
Systems & Administration
· Maintain customer accounts in JDE E1
· Review A/R summaries weekly and resolve discrepancies
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Finance or Accounting required
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive Accounting experience required
A professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) is an asset
Understanding of IFRS/GAAP is required
Knowledge of JD Edwards and Hubble software is an asset
Strong business/technical writing skills an asset
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
Working Conditions
Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, conflicting demands, frequent interruptions, and heavy work loads.
Working in an office environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Recruitment range: $57,300 - 64,500*
Short Term Incentive Plan Target: Performance-based incentive up to 8% of eligible earnings
