The Opportunity
The Ministry of Highways is seeking a Manager, Stakeholder Relations to join the Communications and Customer Service Branch. Reporting to the Director, Communications, you will focus on delivering a comprehensive stakeholder engagement and consultation strategy for improving stakeholder management, engagement and communications.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- have the ability to develop and implement tools and processes to support the stakeholder engagement, consultation and communications strategies of the ministry;
- engage, educate and inform external stakeholders (general public, landowners, businesses, clients, indigenous groups, etc.) about the ministry's strategic mandate and specific projects/programs impacting stakeholders;
- develop and implement policy documents, templates, training and guidelines to support stakeholder relations across the ministry;
- consult and collaborate with internal clients to incorporate the strategies into their processes and support them in managing stakeholder engagement and consultation activities;
- advise on issues and strategies to improve stakeholder outcomes including preparing key strategies and messaging to support issues management;
- lead and coach ministry staff, including one direct report, to achieve the strategic goals of the ministry, while demonstrating the Government of Saskatchewan's Commitment to Excellence; and
- engage in cross-government collaboration and stakeholder engagement strategies taking a one team approach.
Typically, the skills and knowledge required to be successful in this position will have been gained through a post secondary degree in a discipline such as public relations, business, public policy, communications or journalism. Formal training and experience combined with a certificate designation in International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Canada in Public Participation.
