Position Description:
The Support Engineer serves as a key technical resource to provide technical guidance and support to design, quality, production and procurement teams ranging from supporting material substitutions and reviewing designs for consistency and accuracy, to providing direction on electrical production test results and supporting manufacturing personnel on issues that may arise during production. The Support Engineer interfaces between design, production, procurement and quality to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Position Responsibilities/Duties:
Material Support:
- Assist in the evaluation and approval of material substitutions and alternative components, in collaboration with purchasing, to ensure compatibility with existing designs, product specifications and performance requirements.
- Review technical specifications and collaborate with suppliers to validate the suitability of alternative materials and components.
- Document, keep record of, and communicate material changes to all applicable stakeholders.
Production and Testing Support:
- Review electrical production testing results as required to provide guidance and direction on corrective actions.
- Investigate and resolve non-conformances identified during production and testing by working closely with Quality Control,
Manufacturing, and Design teams.
- Work with quality and design, as necessary, to ensure effective implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s).
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions or process improvements to enhance product reliability and quality.
- Collaborate with Quality, design and Production teams, when required, on new design prototyping and type testing initiatives.
Design Support:
- When required, assist the Design Engineering team by reviewing and providing feedback on engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications for new transformer designs and existing design modifications.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to implement and document revisions or modifications that address issues during production.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify, manage and oversee continuous improvement projects that require engineering support.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent technical experience in transformer manufacturing may be considered.
Experience:
- 4–5 years of experience in an engineering support role in electrical manufacturing or a related industry.
- Prior experience with quality control, material evaluation, or design engineering is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong organizational, multitasking and time management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems such as Infor/Syteline.

Experience with CAD or document management systems (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SharePoint) is a plus.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
