Job Description
-
Performing daily preparation of mechanical ventilators, monitors and all respiratory-related equipment (primarily used for critically ill patients) to ensure all equipment, e.g., ventilators, monitors, etc., is operating properly and in accordance with manufacturer, C.S.A. and departmental standards

Prepares and checks AGM in main OR, ambulatory OR, and satellite areas
-
Troubleshoots AGM and monitoring technical challenges
-
Collects malfunctioning respiratory therapy equipment
-
Examines equipment for damage/defects and takes action as required
-
Ensures supplies (respiratory therapy and medical gases) are sufficiently stocked
-
Syringe pump charging
-
Performing materials and equipment management and coordination responsibilities
-
Prepare intubation tray supplies
-
Prepare and restock bronchoscopy towers and difficult airway carts throughout hospital
-
Maintain inventory of supplies
-
Performs general preparation of all respiratory related equipment, within cope of practice;
-
Performs standard checkout procedures on all critical care ventilators been uses, following C.S.A. established protocol, manufacturer, infection control and department specifications to ensure ventilators are operating appropriately
-
Identifies problems/malfunctions in equipment and refers major electrical microprocessors problems to the Biomedical Engineers or Service Technician, as required;
-
Assists with medical gas shutdowns, as required;
-
Prepares detailed technical description/report for/on equipment repairs.

Assists with Stockpile Ventilator inventory preventative maintenance by c ordinating technical service representative appointments and maintaining records, as required by the Ministry of Health
-
Performs any required quality control tests to ensure safe operation of equipment
-
Works with MOR to educate on new equipment processing
-
Communicates safety issues and procedures to hospital staff in a timely fashion
-
Communicates changing work priorities to staff in a timely fashion
Qualifications
-
Currently enrolled in a recognized Respiratory Therapy Program
-
Student Member of the Respiratory Therapy Society of Ontario
-
Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment, preferred
-
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
-
Excellent leadership and problem solving skills
-
Excellent oral and written communications skills
-
Able to establish positive and supportive relationships
-
Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team
-
Able to meet the physical demands of the position
-
Satisfactory attendance and employment record required.
Additional Information
2 Positions
**Hours:**Monday to Friday various rotating shifts (hours subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $21.33 to $26.67 per hour
