From skating to swimming, to recreation programs and more, our rec centre provides a wide range of recreation services and programs to residents of Hope and FVRD Electoral Areas A and B. We have an exciting opportunity for energetic individuals to fill the position of Summer Day Camp Leader.

As a Summer Day Camp Leader at the FVRD, a typical week could see you participating and implementing fun-themed weeks with the kids. Each week, there will be an outing that corresponds with the theme and activities that tie into the weekly theme. During Mission Impossible week, your mission, should you choose to accept it is to help the kids complete tests of endurance at Wild Play Element Park; and during Shark Week, help the kids have a fantastic time at the Vancouver Aquarium. The term for this position is June 29, 2026, to September 6, 2026.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a minimum of one-year prior camp experience

  • Be knowledgeable and experienced in building relationships with patrons and dealing with behaviour management both with children and parents/adults

  • Be a mature, nurturing, and flexible professional who genuinely enjoys working with children and can determine the individual personality and needs of each child and tailor activities to engage them

  • Have excellent communication and public relation skills, with the ability to use tact and courtesy when dealing with customers

  • Have standard First Aid & AED

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Must pass a Criminal Records Check

The preferred candidate will also possess the following additional certifications:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have taken courses in physical literacy, or have equivalent experience leading activities

  • National Coaching Certificate Program certificate or equivalent i.e.; High Five or other Sport for Life program certificate would be considered an asset

  • Have a valid B.C. Driver’s License

The wage rate for this time-duration Union position is $26.15 per hour plus 16% in lieu of benefits. The Summer Camp Leader must be available for shifts from up to four (4) hours to eight (8) hours inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
