We are on the hunt for a Supervisor, Space Systems Engineering on our systems team at our Montreal office.

Role:
The Supervisor is a member of the company management team and reports to the Senior Manager of Space Systems department. The Supervisor contributes to the management of a section of the service by perfecting and maintaining a workforce with key technical skills necessary to ensure the successful definition, execution, and delivery of the company's products and projects, specifically in relation to the development and design of our digital telecommunications payloads and synthesis of opening.
The Supervisor will participate in the management of recruitment, development, engagement, and retention, as well as succession planning within their team.
Additionally, the incumbent will support the Manager in other aspects of the service's activities, such as the development of the technological roadmap, continuous improvement, modernization of engineering practices, and customer satisfaction. They will support the adoption of next-generation engineering tools, techniques, and procedures to increase the organization's competitiveness.
Tasks:
Support and Resource Management:
- Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work. Monitor and manage overall employee performance, conduct annual performance evaluations, and set individual goals.
- Provide expertise in staffing to support program, R&D, and business expansion demands. Ensure that staffing meets current and future program demands.
- Train personnel to ensure necessary skills. Establish and regularly update succession plans for key skills to avoid single points of failure and resource bottlenecks.
- Ensure that the group's skills remain at the forefront of techniques in their respective engineering disciplines.
- Ensure that personnel work in an environment that fosters innovation and evolution to maximize their satisfaction within the constraints of the company, supporting career planning, providing regular feedback, and celebrating successes.
- Supervise engineering processes and tools necessary to support service activities and program needs.
- Identify and manage conflicts between all programs for flight or development activities, as needed.
- Support the management of the service's indirect cost budget within allocated limits and provide forecasts to the finance department, as needed.
- Support the coordination of capital planning for the service. Propose necessary capital investments with appropriate financial justification and implement procurement.
- Ensure the proper application of company collective agreements.
Technical Overview:
- Participate in or lead Technical Overview Board (TOB) meetings.
- Coordinate and ensure the dissemination of lessons learned.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure that corrective actions are implemented as necessary.
- Provide active support to Community of Practice (COP) activities.
- Participate in or lead technical diagnosis and problem-solving.
- Provide specialized support to Material Review Board (MRB) committees and customer requests, as applicable.
Development, Update, and Implementation of Processes:
- Ensure the proper application and respect of company policies and processes by service personnel.
- Support the development and update of service-specific policies, processes, work instructions, and standards, and ensure they are accessible to personnel and respected by them.
- Propose and lead new initiatives, participate in Operational Process Improvement (OPI) or Key Performance Indicator (KPI) initiatives to improve service efficiency or overall performance.
- Ensure that all health and safety procedures and policies are respected and maintained.
Market Exploration and Conquest:
- Provide support and participate in proposal activities.
- Formulate recommendations for product development organization regarding new products and R&D initiatives, in line with the company's strategic direction.
- Support and coordinate patent requests in collaboration with the product development organization. Ensure that company trade secrets and proprietary information are protected and handled securely.
Perform other tasks as needed, such as leading proposals at the initial phase, managing small projects or parts of them, providing support for subcontract management, participating in collective agreement negotiations.
Professional Experience Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in the field of telecommunications payload engineering and synthesis of opening, preferably in the space industry.
- Practical and relevant experience of Systems Engineering processes.
- Practical and relevant experience of Satellite Telecommunication Systems, space segment, and ground segment.
- The candidate must have demonstrated superior human relations, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Aspirations to manage teams of people in a dynamic environment.
- Experience or interest in developing skills in resource management, negotiation, risk management techniques, and financial reporting.
- Good communication skills in French and English (written and spoken).
Education Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a similar field, bachelor’s or higher.

Role:
