Overview The Technical Manager, Flyover Vancouver (“TM”) will report directly to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Director of Maintenance Engineering at Flyover Attractions (“FOA”), while working closely with other members of the Flyover Attractions, Flyover Las Vegas, Flyover Chicago, and Flyover Iceland teams.

The Technical Manager oversees the day -to day business of Flyover Vancouver (“FOCV”) by providing technical leadership for the overall operation, maintenance, training, and systems integration of the ride, show systems, and facility equipment. This position will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of all pieces of equipment and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the year.

What is the compensation for this role? The salary range for this role is $90,000/yr - $95,000/year. A full breakdown of benefits and perks will be discussed in the interview process. What will you do in this job?

  • Ensure the smooth operation of business systems including, but not limited to ride, facility, and show systems
  • Effectively build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization as well as external parties (landlord, contractors, suppliers, etc.)
  • Be a strong leader for the technical team by championing recruitment, performance management, training, workforce planning/scheduling, and rewards and recognition programs
  • Manage, track and report on maintenance, inventory and overall attraction status regularly
  • Determine life cycles of all equipment assets and put together an action plan for replacement and repair based on engineering and ride manufacturer’s specifications
  • Oversee and manage workplace health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for both guests and employees
  • Ensure effective communication strategies, policies and procedures are implemented, always reviewed and maintained both internally and externally
  • Manage annual OPEX & CAPEX budgets based on targeted forecast
  • Demonstrate high levels of commitment, organization, flexibility and innovation always

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a technical management role
  • Experience managing a unionized environment.
  • Possess a technical background in theme park maintenance and operation of ride control systems with an emphasis on motion base simulators
  • Demonstrated knowledge of audio-visual systems, digital signage players, wiring, networked amplifiers, media servers, projection systems, DMX lighting, and other A/V peripheral equipment
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, VFD, DC Servo, Solid State relays, etc.
  • AIMS, NAARSO, or IAAPA certification and familiarity with ASTM F24, OSHA, and ADA requirements
  • Christie Digital or other large venue laser projector operation and maintenance
  • Commercial construction and building maintenance, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, along with general maintenance of grounds, and other facility related areas
  • Intermediate proficiency in networking, hardware, and software within a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Experience tracking maintenance and asset status in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Available and if required flexible to work irregular hours including weekends, holidays, evenings and overnights
  • Be prepared – this role requires legal ability to work in Canada, hold a valid passport and a driver’s license, and access to a vehicle
