Financial Accounting Analyst

Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits is the third largest producer of VQA wines in Niagara, Ontario and we are looking for our next team member to fulfill the role of Financial Accounting Analyst.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

In this full-time position you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the Company’s financial data. You will manage routine accounting processes in Sage ERP, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory control, and period-end processing. The position also supports monthly and quarterly reporting, compliance requirements, and project-based financial initiatives such as budgeting and audit preparation.

Accounting Operations

  • Perform daily Sage ERP processing, including day-end procedures, invoice batches, receipt batches, and payment batches.
  • Maintain accurate A/P and A/R records, including payment postings, credit card refunds, and collection submissions.
  • Process employee benefits, commissions, payroll reviews, and expense reimbursements.
  • Review accounts receivable balances, reconcile variances, and manage bad debt write-offs.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including income statement, balance sheet, winery performance reports, and TBP performance reports.
  • Compile and submit borrowing base reports and other lender reporting packages.
  • Support quarterly and annual reconciliations, including Caseware GL reconciliations and subsidy revenue recognition.
  • Assist with intercompany revenue accruals, program accruals, and promotional allocations.

Compliance & Industry-Specific Programs

  • Manage invoicing, reporting, and payment submissions for provincial bodies such as AGLC, BCLDB, and Liquor Control programs.
  • Process agency business trade samples, Save-On-Foods payments, and industry rebate submissions.
  • Support compliance with consignment, wine subsidy, and rebate reporting requirements.

Process & Project Support

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Support external audits and internal compliance reviews.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within Sage ERP and related financial systems.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in AP/AR and reporting.
  • Proficiency in ERP (Sage 300 preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines (daily, monthly, quarterly).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills to work with finance and operational teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Familiarity with beverage-alcohol industry reporting requirements (AGLC, BCLDB, VQA) is an asset.
  • Ability to work primarily onsite at our Niagara Region office with some flexibility to work from home.
