Summary The Class 2 Configuration Control Specialist works under the general supervision of the Configuration Management Manager. He/she is responsible for coordinating configuration support and/or documentation management for several complex design projects. Under the general supervision of a Team Leader or Manager, he/she estimates, plans, coordinates, executes and follows through to completion the configuration support required for the program. Liaise with multi-disciplinary and multi-site teams on program management and engineering projects. Applies configuration standards, plans and work instructions for all types of engineering deliverables, including software, engineering and manufacturing documents. Support change initiatives within and outside the department. Possesses in-depth technical and administrative knowledge of activities related to areas of expertise.
Tasks
- Organizes and coordinates configuration support and/or document management (revisions, versions, releases) as well as deliverables within established configuration plans.
- Performs tasks related to at least one type of configuration product, whether software files, technical drawings, or manufacturing documents.
- May be required to respond to customer requests for proposals to confirm compliance with required standards and processes, and to develop relevant program configuration plans.
- Participates in project meetings, customer reviews, and relevant audits, as required.
- Confers with internal customers, editors, engineers, quality assurance, the airworthiness group, marketing personnel, and other employees regarding project configuration.
- Coordinates ongoing internal work, resolves configuration issues, validates document quality, and ensures deadlines are met.
- Prepares progress reports.
- May be required to provide support in reviewing, formatting, and preparing documents for internal clients.
- Supports and coordinates department process improvement initiatives and issues work instructions related to department configuration.
- Provides support and, occasionally, training to engineers and users regarding configuration management tools and processes.
- Trains new members of the Configuration group and provides technical support to junior department staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- College diploma in administration or related discipline.
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience during which the candidate has progressively acquired responsibilities.
- Proficiency in managing at least one type of configuration product (including software files, technical drawings, or manufacturing documents), with demonstrated knowledge of at least one other type.
- A certificate in information management or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience performing tasks requiring a solid knowledge of configuration management standards and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Bilingualism (oral and written, French and English).
