About The Role

The Payments and Clearing Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the timely, accurate, and secure processing of financial transactions within the Bank’s back-office operations. This role is primarily responsible for handling domestic and international payment processing, clearing and settlement of cheques and AFTs in accordance with Payments Canada standards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies. The clerk will collaborate with other Operations Support teams and provide support in resolving transaction discrepancies. This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

Here's what you will be doing:

  • Assist clients through the Customer Support Line, including troubleshooting issues and other requests related to PaymentStream AFT
  • Liaise and maintain effective business relationships with all external and internal business partners using clear, concise language and superior customer service skills
  • Process daily rejected clearing items and/or load error processing to meet strict deadlines
  • Assist with processing the Operations Support daily reconciliations
  • Process incoming and outgoing payments, including wire transfers (SWIFT), EFT/ACH, bill payments, loan advances, internal account transfers, etc.
  • Understand and apply Payments Canada return timeframes
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank and Industry Codes of Conduct and Ethics
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Understand, update and apply Operations Support operating policies and procedures and maintain proper control of documents
  • Build and maintain a productive relationship with the Operations Support team and the branch network and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Share knowledge and expertise with peers

About You

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Proficiency in learning new software applications
  • High level of organizational skills with ability to prioritize daily workload
  • Ability to adjust to changing work priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  • have your high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • have at least one year customer service experience in the financial industry, retail or a goal-oriented environment
  • have strong interpersonal skills; use a computer and Microsoft Office software
  • experience with financial institution software systems
  • cash handling, customer service, and/or sales experience
  • have acceptable criminal and credit checks
