This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the District of Stewart and CUPE
Local 1804. The current base rate for this position is $34.68/hr (plus $3/hr additional when performing water/wastewater duties)
THE DISTRICT OF STEWART is currently seeking applications for One (1) Labourer with Small Water Wastewater Certification.
Duties:
-
Water and Sewer Maintenance
-
General Grounds maintenance including Lawn mowing, weed trimming, raking and brushing
-
Ditch maintenance, pavement and sidewalk repair
-
Litter and cardboard recycling pick-up
-
Painting
-
Parking lot, street, sidewalk, boardwalk, trail and graveyard maintenance and clean-up
-
Snow removal including shovelling, salting and keeping fire hydrants and garbage bins clear of snow
-
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
-
Small Water and Wastewater System Certification (Level 1 preferred)
-
Applicants must be able to legally work in Canada
-
Grade 12 Education or equivalent
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or better (Please provide a current driver’s abstract)
-
Proven ability to follow direction, and work collaboratively with coworkers
-
Safe work attitude
-
Good physical condition and the ability to perform heavy manual labour
-
Ability to work independently in the accomplishments of tasks
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate respectfully with the public
Desirable Attributes:
-
Experience with public works functions, including roads, water, wastewater, and facility maintenance
-
Experience with the use and maintenance of public works tools and equipment
-
First Aid Certification
-
Confined Space Training/Experience
-
Fall Arrest Training/Experience
