About the role
ATCO Frontec is seeking a Data Analytics & Automation Co-op student for May 2026 in Calgary, AB. The role of Data Analytics & Automation Co-Op is responsible for the stability and maintenance of current enterprise systems, projects (development, enhancements, etc., to new and existing products), and technology support to the business at large of ATCO Frontec. This position is focused on technical enablement, product ownership, design and development, with an overview of the Data Analytics & Automation team.

This Position is for a May 2026, 4 or 8-month Co-op term, based in Calgary, AB at the ATCO Park East. This is a hybrid role, with at least 3 days in the office.
Responsibilities:

Support existing enterprise applications with system issues, troubleshooting and user adoption

Projects (list is not exhaustive, nor are all required)
- Fix/Standardize Python Scripts (i.e. refactor code, authenticate, etc.)
- Reporting and advanced analytics development
- Assist in the design and development of data pipelines, transformation and visualization
- Assist in process optimizations across Frontec, reviewing business requirements for opportunities around automation or AI integration

Application enhancement or development (i.e. PowerApps)

Technology support
- Assists in developing training and tutorials for digitized processes and process roll-out
- Keeps informed of global technological and other trends that impact the development and adoption of technology

Brainstorms and develops experimental applications using technology not currently used in ATCO Frontec with assistance
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics program
- Knowledge of databases and the SQL query language is an asset.
- Experience with a visualization tool like Power BI or Tableau is an asset.
- Comfort creating basic solutions using Python is an asset.
- Experience extracting data using API's is an asset.
- Exceptional organization skills
- Excellent communicator, both with external and internal clients
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently
- Must be able to pass Criminal Background Check
