Week 1-5 Our priority is to make sure we hire safe landfill labourers that care about the safety of our customers and team members. As a landfill labourer with us the minimum responsibilities are (on a weekly rotation for a 7-week cycle):
- Operate the tipper efficiently and safely.
- Pick and manage litter within the landfill area.
- Perform groundskeeping tasks, including grass cutting and snow removal.
- Carry out general labour duties as assigned.
Week 6-7
- Operate a skid steer to clean heavy equipment (HE) tracks.
- Use compressed air to clean out radiators on heavy equipment.
- Utilize shovels, grinders, and cutters to remove debris from heavy equipment tracks.
General Duties
- Know and embrace the company’s operating values.
- Must have and maintain a valid G driver's license in good standing
- Operate heavy equipment in a proficient and safe manner, avoiding preventable damage to equipment.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with the scale and the shop as required, in a clear and courteous manner.
- Complete all applicable reports and paperwork timely and correctly.
- Perform daily fluid level checks, fueling, greasing, and undercarriage cleaning.
- Keep equipment maintained and clean of debris.
What We Need From You
- 3+ years of experience as a skilled labourer or heavy equipment operator and demonstrated safety-first attitude preferred.
- Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively in different styles and contexts.
- Experience in the safe and efficient operation of: skid steers, loaders, or similar equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks.
Hours And Schedule
- Monday-Friday: 12-hour shifts.
- Saturday: 8 hour shifts. Ad-hoc during weeks 1-5; all Saturdays during weeks 6-7 (see 7-week rotation below)
Salary: $23.14/h, with overtime after 44 hours. Unionized environment
