Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for regulatory compliance and financial analysis? We are seeking a Rate Applications Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of regulatory filings in line with industry standards. You will conduct research to support the company's positions in rate filings and act as a project manager, ensuring internal stakeholders are informed, deadlines are met, and documentation is ready for submission. Additionally, you will assess emerging regulatory issues and industry standards to keep the company aligned with current and future requirements.
What You’ll Do Regulatory Filings and Support
- Prepare rate applications and related documents for submission to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), including handling interrogatory responses.
- Develop financial models and perform financial analyses to support regulatory strategies and filings.
- Manage rate case databases and document control to ensure information availability and recovery.
Research and Analysis
- Maintain a regulatory database, identifying relevant issues for future research.
- Provide research support to witnesses and counsel involved in regulatory proceedings.
- Analyze and interpret company financial and statistical data for use in regulatory reports, filings, and studies.
Strategic Planning and Development
- Participate in the development and preparation of annual budgets, strategic plans, and financial forecasts.
- Research emerging regulatory rules and procedures, interpret results, and make recommendations aligned with company policies.
- Develop, analyze, revise, and administer the organization's tariff schedules.
Monitoring and Compliance
- Review and analyze staff papers and decisions from the OEB.
- Monitor industry issues and regulatory developments to advise on appropriate actions.
- Stay informed about initiatives from the OEB, IESO, Ministry of Energy, and other organizations.
- Support the Rates and Settlements division with MIFRS & IFRS reporting, including variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and health & safety policies and standards.

Who You Are Education & Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- CMA, CGA, CA, or CPA designation preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory and governmental requirements, including relevant codes and handbooks.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in finance or regulatory roles.
- Proven experience in building financial models and handling complex spreadsheets.
- Comprehensive understanding of utility functions.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and compellingly convey information.
- Effective planning and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
