Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor for Environmental Services and Hospitality, this Housekeeping Worker performs professional routine cleaning in all patients, public and office areas according to the Position Description and adheres to Infection Control standards provided by the Environmental Services department. The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established operating standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health and St Michael’s Health Centre. The Housekeeping Worker interacts compassionately and respectfully with patients, residents, co-workers’ supervisors and managers. The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting public, patient and office areas including the collection of waste.

The Environmental Services Worker l is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting public, patient and office areas. The Environmental Services Worker l performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 408 St. Michael's Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications
Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications
Ability to perform specialized cleaning procedures in isolation areas. High standard of cleanliness and sanitation with strong attention to detail. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, fluent in English. Basic computer skills are a necessity. Ability to work as part of a team and also independently. Possess good time management skills, able to follow directions, work to deadlines, and have attention to detail. Capable of meeting the physical demands of the position; able to stand for long periods of time and ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs. Possess the fortitude to work in a hospital setting. Valid 3-month Criminal Records Check. Work shift hours of 0830 – 1645 and 1400 – 2215 as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous cleaning experiences in a health care setting preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. WHMIS certificate.
