Company Description Black Donors Save Lives (BDSL) is a federal nonprofit organization focused on reducing racial disparities in blood, stem cell, organ, and tissue donor pools that affect patients from African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities. BDSL advocates for equitable access to lifesaving donations through community engagement, education, and partnerships with health and donor organizations. The organization raises awareness of the urgent need for more diverse donors and promotes culturally responsive outreach strategies. Volunteers and staff collaborate to support campaigns that increase donor registration and improve health outcomes for ACB patients. Role Description The Social Media & Digital Communications Coordinator (Volunteer) is a remote role that supports BDSL’s online presence and outreach efforts. This position involves planning, creating, and scheduling content across social media platforms, as well as helping to maintain a consistent brand voice aligned with BDSL’s mission. Day-to-day tasks include drafting posts and campaigns, updating digital materials, monitoring engagement, and responding to comments or messages in coordination with the team. The coordinator may also assist in preparing press releases, digital newsletters, and website updates, and will collaborate with other volunteers and staff to promote virtual events, campaigns, and key initiatives. Qualifications Strong written communication skills, including Writing and general Communication abilities. Experience or interest in Strategic Communications, including planning and executing digital campaigns. Ability to draft Press Releases and support basic Media Relations activities. Comfort with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn) and basic content creation tools. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a remote volunteer setting. Commitment to health equity and sensitivity to issues affecting African, Caribbean, and Black communities. Prior experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or nonprofit work is an asset but not required.
