Position: Secondary Vice-Principal
Description: Administrative Officer
Location: Fort Nelson Secondary School
FTE: 1.0 FTE Full-Time
Commencement Date: ASAP
Applications are invited from an experienced educator to fill a Vice-Principalship position at Fort Nelson Secondary School.
Responsibilities will include:
- Inclusive Education:
- Scheduling and supervision of SSRT's and Support Staff
- Caseload manager, including IEP's and AIP's (ELL)
- School timetable – this is a significant portion of the VP workload.
- Grade 7-8 transition planning with school staff and RL Angus Elementary
- 1701 and TRAX reporting
- Graduation Literacy and Numeracy Assessments
- Ministry and District data collection and tracking
- Instructional supervision and staff evaluations
- Position will include a teaching component for 25/26 school year
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated:
- Efforts to make a significant difference for students.
- The ability to form strong, positive relationships within the school community.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
- The ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and support staff
- Practical knowledge and use of best practice in instruction and assessment
- Learning and implementation of Indigenous education
- Learning and implementation of inclusive educational practices; student services experience (IEP case management) is an asset
- A commitment to participation in the school community
- Knowledge of and commitment to the use of restorative practices
- Proficient in the use of technology including MyEd, and the ability to learn/use new tools. This
is a critical skill for the building of the new timetable.
- The flexibility to perform new duties as assigned
The applicant must possess:
- Successful Secondary teaching experience
- BC Teacher Regulation Branch certification
- A clear criminal record check
- A Masters Degree in Education (completed, in progress, or a commitment to obtain within a specified time frame)
